The Young Assyrians
Assyrian American Association of Southern California (AAASC)
The Young Assyrians (TYA) had the honour of facilitating an advocacy presentation in collaboration with the Assyrian American Association of Southern California (AAASC).
We were pleased to be joined by members of the Assyrian American community from across Southern California for an engaging discussion on TYA’s work in Australia, our approach to advocacy, and the importance of strengthening Assyrian representation and engagement at all levels of government.
The presentation also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore how Assyrian organisations and communities across the diaspora can learn from one another, strengthen their advocacy and build greater connections.
We extend our sincere thanks to the AAASC for their warm hospitality and for providing TYA with the opportunity to share our work. Most importantly, we thank everyone who attended, contributed to the discussion and shared their perspectives.
Across borders, we remain connected by a shared commitment to the advancement of our Assyrian nation.

The Young Assyrians & Assyrian Youth Federation of America – 2026 Assyrian National Convention
The Young Assyrians (TYA) were proud to deliver an advocacy presentation and workshop in collaboration with the Assyrian Youth Federation of America (AYFA) as part of the 2026 Assyrian National Convention in Chicago.
The session brought together young Assyrians from across the United States and around the world for an engaging and practical discussion on how we can approach advocacy more strategically and effectively. The workshop explored the importance of identifying clear objectives, developing strong and consistent messages, understanding decision-makers and building meaningful relationships with government and community stakeholders.
Participants were also encouraged to consider how advocacy can move beyond raising awareness and translate into meaningful action, from identifying an issue and developing an advocacy strategy, to engaging decision-makers and following through to achieve tangible outcomes for our people.
The workshop provided an opportunity for young Assyrians to exchange experiences, ask questions and learn from different approaches to advocacy across the diaspora. It also highlighted the value of collaboration between Assyrian youth organisations across countries and the importance of sharing knowledge, resources and experiences.
TYA extends its sincere appreciation to AYFA for the opportunity to collaborate and to everyone who participated in the session. We were proud to contribute to the development of young Assyrian leaders and advocates who will continue to represent our people and advance our interests for generations to come.
Building the next generation of Assyrian advocates, informed, connected and ready to lead.
