Visit from Dr Nicholas Al-Jeloo

The Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. was delighted to welcome Dr Nicholas Al-Jeloo to the ANCA Headquarters in Fairfield.

Dr Al-Jeloo is an Assyrian-Australian socio-cultural historian, linguist and published author, whose scholarship has contributed significantly to the study of modern Assyrian history, identity and Syriac Christianity.

It was a pleasure to reconnect with Dr Al-Jeloo and engage in a meaningful exchange of perspectives on ANCA’s recent work, ongoing developments and broader matters concerning the Assyrian-Australian community.

The discussion provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our community’s history and identity, while considering the importance of preserving and strengthening our cultural heritage for future generations.

Visit from Senator Tony Sheldon's Office

This morning, the Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. was pleased to welcome Ms Tu Le and Mr Sabri Koro from the office of Senator Tony Sheldon, Senator for New South Wales and Chief Government Whip in the Senate, to the ANCA Headquarters in Fairfield.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the services and support available to the Assyrian-Australian community, as well as the broader needs, priorities and concerns of our community.

We sincerely thank Tu and Sabri for taking the time to meet with us and for their willingness to listen, engage and better understand the issues affecting our community.

We look forward to continuing this positive engagement and further strengthening our relationship with Senator Sheldon’s office in the interests of the Assyrian-Australian community.

Assyrian Martyrs’ Day Commemoration

The Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. sincerely thanks all those who joined us in commemorating Assyrian Martyrs’ Day and honouring the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our people, homeland, faith and identity.

We were honoured by the presence of Members of the Federal and NSW Parliaments, who shared meaningful messages and stood with our community on this important occasion. We also extend our appreciation to representatives of our churches, community organisations, schools, professional associations and members of our community who came together in remembrance and solidarity.

We especially acknowledge and thank:

Rev. Father Ramin Youkhanis – Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East

Father Gewargis David – Ancient Church of the East

Dai Le MP – Federal Member for Fowler

Hugh McDermott MP – State Member for Prospect and Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney General

Mark Coure MP – Shadow Minister for Roads and Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism

Tri Vo MP – State Member for Cabramatta

Dr Themistocles Kritikakos

Dr Panayiotis Diamadis

Their presence and support helped make this year’s commemoration a meaningful reflection on our history and the sacrifices of generations before us. May the memory of our martyrs remain eternal, and may their legacy continue to guide generations to come.
