Armenian Genocide Wreath-Laying Ceremony and Prayer Service at NSW Parliament House

The Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. attended the Armenian Genocide Wreath-Laying Ceremony and Prayer Service at NSW Parliament House on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, organised by the Armenian National Committee of Australia.

The event brought together members of the NSW Parliament, alongside representatives from the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek communities, to honour and remember the victims of the Armenian Genocide and reflect on the enduring importance of remembrance.

The evening continued with a highly informative and thought-provoking presentation by Dr Panayiotis Diamadis, titled “ANZAC Bread”, which explored the history of the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocides and Australia’s response to these events.

The presentation provided an important opportunity to reflect on the experiences of our communities and the role that Australia has played in acknowledging and responding to these chapters of history.

The Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. remains committed to working alongside our Armenian and Greek counterparts in preserving the memory of those who were lost and ensuring that the histories of our peoples continue to be recognised and remembered by future generations.

South-West Sydney Men's Health Forum

On Monday, 31 August 2026, the Assyrian National Council – Australia (ANCA) was pleased to attend the South-West Sydney Men’s Health Forum, hosted by Senator Tony Sheldon, Senator for New South Wales and Chief Government Whip in the Senate.

The forum brought together Dan Repacholi MP, Special Envoy for Men’s Health, and the Hon. Ged Kearney MP, Assistant Minister for Social Services and the Prevention of Family Violence, alongside community organisations, service providers, Members of Parliament and local residents.

The informative forum focused on important issues affecting men’s health, including mental health, chronic disease prevention, access to healthcare, and overall health and wellbeing. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about the services, programs and support available within the local community.

ANCA congratulates Senator Sheldon and all those involved in organising this valuable initiative. We extend our appreciation to the organisations and service providers who participated, shared their expertise and took the time to connect with members of the community.

Initiatives such as this play an important role in ensuring our communities are informed, connected and aware of the support and services available to them.

Daran il Atri – Return to My Homeland - Assyrian Aid of Australia

It was a great pleasure to attend “Daran il Atri – Return to My Homeland” on behalf of the Assyrian National Council–Australia.

What a beautifully presented and deeply meaningful production. The talent, passion and dedication of the entire cast and crew were truly evident throughout the performance.

A special congratulations to Rabi Odisho Moshe for writing, directing and performing in this remarkable drama, bringing the story to life with such passion and emotion.

Productions like this are so important for preserving our stories, culture and identity, while sharing them with future generations.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making “Daran il Atri” such a memorable and inspiring evening. We were proud to be there and support this wonderful initiative.
