110th Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide

We were honoured to have representatives of The Young Assyrians attend the 110th Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in Sydney, standing in solidarity with the Armenian Australian community as they remembered the victims and survivors of one of history's greatest atrocities.

TYA Advocacy Director Breteil Tigris David and TYA Director Christian Kifarkis represented our organisation at the commemoration, reaffirming our shared commitment to remembrance, justice and ensuring that the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocides are never forgotten.

The Young Assyrians remain committed to working closely with our Armenian and Greek partners through the Joint Justice Initiative (JJI) to advocate for greater recognition, education and awareness of these genocides across Australia. Together, we continue to honour the memory of those who perished, support the descendants of survivors, and promote truth, accountability and justice for future generations.

An Ode to Freedom – NSW Parliament

Representatives of The Young Assyrians were honoured to attend An Ode to Freedom, a special exhibition by Angela Kiki Konstantinopoulou, hosted at NSW Parliament and organised by AHEPA Sydney & NSW Inc.

The exhibition was a powerful reflection on freedom, identity, resilience and the enduring role of art in preserving history and telling the stories that shape our communities. It served as a reminder of the importance of cultural expression in promoting understanding, remembrance and dialogue.

We extend our sincere thanks to AHEPA Sydney & NSW Inc. and everyone involved in bringing this meaningful exhibition to one of New South Wales' most significant institutions. The Young Assyrians value opportunities to stand alongside our Greek Australian friends and continue strengthening the relationships between our communities through shared history, mutual respect and a common commitment to justice and recognition.

Greek Genocide Commemoration

Representatives of The Young Assyrians were honoured to attend the Greek Genocide Commemorative Event at the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park, standing in solidarity with the Greek Australian community in remembrance of the victims of genocide.

Together with our partners in the Joint Justice Initiative (JJI), we reaffirmed our shared commitment to truth, recognition and justice. We thank the organisers for hosting a meaningful commemoration and remain proud to stand alongside our Greek and Armenian friends in preserving historical memory and advocating for genocide recognition across Australia.

AAPA Leadership & Networking Forum

Representatives of The Young Assyrians and Assyrian National Council - Australia Inc. attended the Leadership and Networking Forum hosted by the Assyrian Australian Professional Association (AAPA), bringing together Assyrian professionals and university students to foster mentorship, collaboration and stronger community connections.

It was a privilege to hear from Ms Mary Orham, whose personal and professional journey inspired attendees through her insights on leadership, perseverance and service. We thank AAPA for hosting an outstanding event and look forward to continuing to strengthen opportunities for the next generation of Assyrian leaders.

Meeting with Evan Mulholland MLC

The Young Assyrians President, Dennis Suro, was pleased to meet with Evan Mulholland MLC, Member for Northern Metropolitan Region, to discuss initiatives supporting the Assyrian community and opportunities to strengthen engagement with TYA Victoria.

We appreciate Evan's ongoing support for the Assyrian community and look forward to continuing our work together to empower young Assyrians and advocate for the issues that matter most to our community.

Banquet Honouring His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paulis III Nona

Representatives of The Assyrian National Council - Australia Inc. were honoured to attend the banquet hosted by the Chaldean League in NSW celebrating the election of His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paulis III Nona as Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church.

It was a privilege to join members of the community in marking this significant occasion and to extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Beatitude. We wish him every success in his spiritual leadership and pray that his ministry continues to strengthen and unite our people and churches around the world.

Celebrating Our Volunteers

The Assyrian National Council - Australia Inc and the Young Assyrians are incredibly proud to have played a role in making this year's Assyrian New Year celebration one of our community's most successful events.

We extend our sincere gratitude to every volunteer whose dedication, teamwork and commitment helped bring this celebration to life. A special thank you goes to the ANCA Committee and the volunteers from The Young Assyrians, whose enthusiasm, leadership and countless hours of service were instrumental to the event's success.

When young people take an active role in preserving and celebrating our culture, they are not only honouring our heritage but also investing in the future of our community. Your passion, hard work and willingness to serve continue to inspire us all.

ANZAC Day Commemoration

Representatives of The Assyrian National Council - Australia Inc. and The Young Assyrians were honoured to attend the ANZAC Day Commemoration at Smithfield RSL before joining the commemorative march to McCarthy Memorial Park, where we laid a wreath on behalf of the Assyrian National Council – Australia Inc. and The Young Assyrians.

It was a privilege to stand with our local community in remembering the courage, sacrifice and service of the Australian and New Zealand men and women who have served our nation, and to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our freedoms. Lest we forget.
