Community Engagement
Meet and Greet with the Governor General
We were recently honoured to meet with Her Excellency Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia.
It was a privilege to hear directly from Her Excellency and reflect on the enduring importance of community, leadership, and service in shaping a stronger, more inclusive Australia. During the community meet-and-greet, Her Excellency spoke thoughtfully about her role and the values that guide it, particularly a deep commitment to community, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
Her remarks resonated strongly with our own mission, reinforcing the importance of collective effort in building cohesive and resilient communities across the country.
This was not the first occasion on which representatives of the Assyrian National Council of Australia (ANCA) and The Young Assyrians (TYA) have had the honour of engaging with Her Excellency, and we remain grateful for the opportunity to connect at this level and contribute to broader national conversations.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the organisers for facilitating this valuable opportunity.

Rabi Nimrod Simono Scholarship 2026
Recently, the Assyrian National Council of Australia Inc. (ANCA) and The Young Assyrians (TYA) were honoured to attend the Rabi Nimrud Simono Scholarship Ceremony, hosted by the Assyrian Australian Association (AAA) at Eden Venues.
Both ANCA and TYA extend their sincere congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients. Your dedication to education and personal growth is a testament to your hard work and a powerful reflection of the future of our community.
We also commend the Assyrian Australian Association and its dedicated subcommittee for their continued commitment to investing in the next generation. Initiatives such as this not only recognise excellence but also inspire and empower young Assyrians to pursue their ambitions with confidence and purpose.

NSW Premier Harmony Dinner
The Assyrian National Council of Australia Inc., together with The Young Assyrians, was honoured to attend the NSW Premier’s Harmony Dinner held on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
The evening brought together community leaders from across New South Wales in a celebration of the cultural diversity that enriches our state and strengthens our shared future. It served as a powerful reminder of the value of multiculturalism and the importance of fostering unity through mutual respect and understanding.
We were especially proud to represent our heritage on the night, with members of our delegation wearing traditional Assyrian attire, showcasing the depth, history, and vibrancy of our culture among the many communities in attendance.

Assyrian New Year Celebration - Wise Employment
The Assyrian National Council of Australia Inc. extends its sincere appreciation to WISE Employment for their kind invitation to attend and participate in their Assyrian New Year celebration at their Fairfield office.
It was a pleasure to be part of such a meaningful occasion and to witness the spirit of Assyrian culture being recognised and celebrated within the workplace. Events like these not only honour cultural traditions but also play an important role in promoting inclusivity, understanding, and a genuine appreciation for diversity across organisations.
WISE Employment has been a longstanding and valued supporter of the Assyrian Australian community. We are especially grateful for their recent sponsorship of the Assyrian New Year Festival, which contributed to the success of a major cultural event that brought together thousands of community members. Their ongoing commitment and engagement continue to make a meaningful impact in strengthening community connections and creating opportunities for our people.
We commend WISE Employment for its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates cultural identity, and we thank their team for their warm hospitality.
The Assyrian National Council of Australia looks forward to continuing this valued partnership and working collaboratively to support, empower, and uplift our community into the future.
