Kurdish Aggression Against Assyrians
Updated: Dec 24, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
1 October, 2018
The Assyrian Universal Alliance received shocking news from the Syrian town of Qamishli about the arrest of the Assyrian journalist Souleman Yusph by the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and their clowns the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The detention of Souleman Yusph is brutal attack against the freedom of speech to silence those who are criticizing the Kurdish self-administration's policies and their inhuman action against the Assyrians in their own city of Qamishli and others in the Khabour region (North East Syria).
The Assyrian Universal Alliance condemns in the strongest terms possible these illegal and intimidating intrusions against the indigenous Assyrian people of Syria by the Kurds. We hold the Kurdish Regional authorities accountable for not stopping these discriminatory behaviour against Assyrians, deeming it a party to the unlawful and immoral occupation of Assyrian-owned lands. These illicit acts are contrary to the obligations of Syria’s national unity and civil peace that the faithful citizens of the country are seeking.
We appeal to all democratic governments and human rights organizations around the world to condemn the Kurdish aggression against the Assyrian people in Syria and demand the unconditional release of Mr Souleman Yusph from captivity.
